Sharing Your Faith at Work
Pete Hammond
For too long, on-the-job evangelism has bogged down in a debate over talking vs. not talking, explaining the gospel vs. setting a good but silent example. Both approaches are laced with short-comings. Instead, God calls us to merciful friendship toward hurting people rather than gospel verbosity.   more...

Getting Back Into the Water
Marlee Alex
Oct-27-2004
In the book Soul Tsunami, author Leonard Sweet claims American churches have got the gospel message backwards. Evangelism should not consist in saying to the world, "Come to church," but in saying to the church: "Go to the world."   more...

How a Basic Understanding of Postmodernism Can Make Your Message More Effective
located on www.navpress.com
All believers are called to share the truth of Jesus Christ with those around us. Just as foreign missionaries must strive to understand the culture in which they minister, so we would be wise to study the emerging postmodern culture, its language, and its customs. Making Disciples Means Changing Hearts
located on http://umns.umc.org
"Making disciples of all nations has to do with transforming communities, as well as human hearts; the creation of communities of love, of grace, of justice and hospitality that look like Jesus Christ," says Bishop Kenneth Carder, who leads the United Methodist Church s Mississippi Area. Carder says the UMC s Board of Discipleship is responsible for evangelism, "and one of the great travesties of the last 100 years is that we have abdicated the gospel as though there are two gospels, a social and a personal," he said. The only gospel that exists is the gospel that manifests itself in the totality of cosmic existence, Carder says.

The Great Commission: A Call to Make Friends
located on www.evangelism.ang-md.org
Jesus repeatedly calls us to minister in relationships. The fullness of the Gospel is found in the corporate body of Christ, the church, the relationship among the members of the body. To be involved in evangelism means to be a friend who nurtures his/her friend into a relationship with God.

The Sword of the Spirit -- The Weapon of a Contender
located on www.contenderministries.org
Satan is busy at work spreading his deception to all those he can reach.  In order to expose these lies, you must wield the sword of the Spirit (the word of God) and pierce the outward appearance of these lies with scriptural truth.  Only the word of God can tear away the sheepskin to reveal the wolf lurking within. Having exposed the lies with the word of God, you must now use the Scriptures to help minister to people, exposing their lost state and providing the hope that comes only with a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.  You have just used to sword of the Spirit in an offensive tactic not to harm anyone, but rather to bring him or her into a saving knowledge of Jesus.
