Blended Worship: Good for the Body
located on www.firstevan.org
Blended worship has as its goal the joining together of the people of God in all their diversity, under one roof and in one service, to glorify God through the offering up of corporate praise. Services should not be divided between traditional and contemporary. In order for corporate worship (unarguably the most important thing the church does together) to accurately reflect the nature and the unity of the body, it must include the people of God in all of their diversity, unified in the worship by the common focus of that worship: the Lord Jesus Christ, the King of glory.

Have we thought at all about the growing number of post-moderns sitting in our assemblies?

When I examine what I need alongside my gifts and abilities, one thing keeps rising to the top of the list. It's the only thing that will last in ministry, and the only thing that people truly respond to, and yet it s the one thing that is easily overlooked amidst the glitz and glamour of being a musical person with talent. The lost and saved alike are drawn to it and moved by it. Strangely enough, it's not our music or preaching. I still need work in this area but it's one worth the effort. What's the most important thing you can have to help you in ministry? LOVE.

How do we make visitors feel welcome at worship without sacrificing the integrity of Lutheran principles of worship? There is a way to do that. Might I suggest that you treat guests and visitors who come to worship at your church the same way you would treat an honored guest or visitor who comes to your home? None of the things listed below actually convey the gospel. They fall in the realm of common sense.
